Warriors Continue To Avoid Kevin Durant Sweepstakes

After coming off their third title in seven years, and fifth trip to the Finals, the Warriors merely intend to run it back and try again, according to Mark Medina of NBA.com.Kevin Durant

Translation: They remain uninterested in a trade for Nets star Kevin Durant, at least for the time being, Medina relayed.

“I like our team and where it’s at,” Warriors GM Bob Myers told Medina. “I want to give the guys a chance to do it again.”

“… It’s a good group. We’re lucky. It’ll be fun to see,. We were really hunting last year. Now I guess we’re back to being the hunted, which I didn’t think we’d be. We’ll see. I think we can handle it.”

Durant requested a trade earlier this month, and several insiders suggested a reunion with the Warriors could be a possibility. But after winning another title without him, the Warriors are likely just fine as is — and likely wouldn’t want to gut the team to offer the Nets the package they seek.

Durant bolted the Warriors for the Nets in 2019 after two titles and three straight trips to the Finals. Meanwhile, he has not gotten past the second round of the playoffs in Brooklyn.

Of course, there remains no shortage of interest in Durant, as the Heat are said to be in heavy pursuit. Others are at least exploring deals, it seems, and there is always a chance Durant could just reconsider and return to the Nets.

But whatever happens next with Durant, don’t expect the Warriors to be involved.

We have much more on Durant — and will certainly continue to track the story as it develops — so be sure follow along at our Nets page right here.
