Report: Warriors, Hawks Interested In Trading For Paul George

According to NBA reporter Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors are interested in trading for Paul George

George signed a four-year, $211 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers in July.

“Sources tell The Inquirer that the Atlanta Hawks and Golden State Warriors have expressed interest in acquiring George ahead of Thursday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline,” Pompey wrote. “The Warriors came close to acquiring him from the Los Angeles Clippers via a sign-and-trade before the free-agency period began. Even though sources said the Sixers are gagging at the interest, the belief around the league is he’ll only get moved for a home-run deal.”

George has appeared in only 30 games this season due to injuries. He’s averaging 17.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists while shooting 42.9% from the field, 36.5% from beyond the arc and 82.3% from the free-throw line.

A nine-time All-Star, George has played for the Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Clippers and Sixers. He has career averages of 20.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

The Sixers are 19-29 on the season. They are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings. Due to injuries, George, Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey have barely shared the floor together.

The Warriors are trying to get Stephen Curry another star after the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks. Along with George, Golden State has been linked to Kevin Durant, Jimmy Butler, LeBron James, Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram

LeBron has a no-trade clause in his contract. The leading scorer in NBA history will not request a trade despite the Lakers trading Anthony Davis to the Mavericks for Doncic.

The Hawks would love to get Trae Young a running mate. They have also been linked to Ingram, who is in the final year of his contract.

It will be fascinating to see if George gets traded this week.
