Warriors, Heat, Knicks among teams with open two-way spots

Several NBA teams still have some roster work to do before training camps open next month.

Thirteen teams currently have at least one open two-way roster spot, with the defending champion Knicks carrying all three of theirs, as relayed by Rory Maher of Hoops Rumors.

The Celtics, Nets, Bulls, Nuggets, Warriors, Grizzlies, Heat, Bucks, Pelicans, 76ers, Kings and Wizards each have one opening.

Two-way players will make $678,882 this season and can generally be active for up to 50 regular-season games. Teams are permitted to carry three two-way players in addition to their standard 15-man roster.

Some of the openings may already have potential occupants.

The Grizzlies reportedly agreed to a two-way deal with Carson Cooper following the draft, though Memphis must first create room under the 21-player offseason roster limit. The Bucks were also expected to sign Rafael Castro, but that deal has yet to become official.

Meanwhile, several second-round picks remain unsigned, including Tyler Nickel of the Knicks, Bryce Hopkins of the Nuggets and Lajae Jones of the Warriors. Each could potentially wind up on a two-way contract.

Teams can also convert eligible players on Exhibit 10 contracts to two-way deals during or after training camp.

So yes, there are still jobs available. And with camps roughly a month away, there figures to be plenty of shuffling at the bottom of NBA rosters between now and then.
