Warriors forward Draymond Green pushed back on the idea that the season has been “cursed,” pointing to a few positives amid the setbacks, as relayed by NBC Sports Bay Area.
One of those bright spots has been the emergence of forward Gui Santos.
He recently signed a three-year, $15 million extension and has carved out a role in the rotation. In a conversation with ClutchPoints, Santos discussed his path from Brazil to the NBA and the adjustment to life in the United States.
Bench Contributions
Two-way guard Nate Williams has also made an impact since joining the team after the All-Star break.
Williams scored 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting in a win over Atlanta, earning praise from head coach Steve Kerr.
“Nate’s been great,” Kerr said, via The Athletic. “He’s a really good young guy. Very coachable. He’s got a live body … he’s got a good touch.”
Because of the limitations of his two-way contract, Williams can only be active for 16 games and is already nearing that limit, which has led to some recent inactive appearances.
Curry Update
The next formal update on Stephen Curry is expected Friday.
Curry has been sidelined since January 30 with a knee injury and, according to Nick Friedell of The Athletic, has primarily been working with trainer Rick Celebrini behind the scenes rather than participating in full on-court activity.
His status remains one of the key factors in Golden State’s outlook heading into the final stretch.
