Warriors guard/forward Andre Iguodala will undergo surgery on a fractured left wrist next Wednesday and is out indefinitely, the team announced in a press release.
Iguodala, 39, has played an extremely limited role this season, appearing in just eight games and averaging a career-low 2.1 points. There is a chance he may not be available for the playoffs.
Still, as a member of the past runs to the Finals, the Warriors value Iguodala’s leadership in practice and the locker room. They will update his status after the surgery.
- Warriors GM Bob Myers refuted reports that small forward Andrew Wiggins may not return this season during an appearance on 95.7 The Game (full audio below). “I haven’t heard anything along the lines that he’s not coming back.”
- Myers also offered high praise for shooting guard Klay Thompson, saying that he’s still a weapon that opponents had better recognize. “You see the weapon of a player that can get you 30 points,” Myers said on The Game. “He’s dangerous, and your game plan has to account for that.”
- As for his own future with the franchise, Myers didn’t have much to offer, saying only that there are no updates as the team focuses on other things.
