The Warriors are taking another look at a familiar type.
Golden State is signing Nate Williams to a two-way contract, per Jake Fischer of The Stein Line. Williams is also known as Jeenathan Williams, and he fills an open two-way slot without requiring a corresponding roster move.
Williams, 25, has been waiting for his next NBA window while playing for the Long Island Nets in the G League. He was in training camp with the Lakers last fall before being waived in October, then landed with the Nets’ affiliate and quietly put together a strong season.
In 35 G League games, Williams averaged 18.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.8 steals in heavy minutes, shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 36.5 percent from three. He’s a wing who plays with pace, defends multiple spots and doesn’t look overwhelmed by usage.
The Warriors know the profile. Williams spent last season with the Rockets, first on a two-way deal and later on a standard contract, appearing in 20 games. He’s also logged NBA minutes with the Trail Blazers after going undrafted out of Buffalo in 2022.
Golden State created its two-way opening by promoting Pat Spencer after the trade deadline.
