Stephen Curry limped off the floor and straight to the locker room in the final seconds of the Warriors’ 104-100 loss to the Rockets on Wednesday, casting a shadow over a night that already felt heavy for Golden State.

The team announced that Curry suffered a right quad contusion and will undergo an MRI. No time or date was given.

The injury happened late in the fourth when Alperen Sengun’s left knee collided directly with Curry’s quad as he set a screen. Curry grimaced immediately and the limp only got worse as the game wore on.

Moments later, he tried to draw a charge on Amen Thompson. The play was overturned on review and ruled a blocking foul.

Sixty seconds after that, Curry was on the ground again while diving for a loose ball and was called out of bounds.

With 35 seconds left, after Houston rookie Reed Sheppard split a pair of free throws, Steve Kerr called timeout.

Curry huddled with director of sports medicine Rick Celebrini, and Celebrini eventually pointed to the bench. No more. Curry could not continue.

He walked off tight tight-lipped and frustrated, staring straight ahead as he limped down the tunnel.

Curry entered the night with three straight 30-point games. Houston’s physical defense held him to 14 points on 4-of-13 shooting and forced a season-high seven turnovers.

His 14 points were his third-fewest this season.

“It obviously changes everything,” Kerr said when asked what happens if Curry misses time, via Dalton Johnson of NBC Bay Area. “Our rotation, how we’re playing, who we’re playing through.”

Kerr added that he was relieved the injury is a quad and not an ankle or knee.

The Warriors are 1-4 without Curry this season and 92-155 all-time in games he does not play.
