Lakers

Austin Reaves isn’t expected to sign an extension before hitting free agency, but that doesn’t mean he’s leaving Los Angeles.

Keith Smith of Spotrac broke down the math and projects Reaves could land a five-year deal worth around $150 million starting in 2026–27. Both sides reportedly see long-term potential in staying together.

Meanwhile, Luka Doncic looks more at ease in purple and gold. After a rocky emotional adjustment following his trade from Dallas last season, teammates say he’s settled in.

“By being in a clearer headspace, it allows him to just be himself,” head coach JJ Redick said, via Dan Woike of The Athletic. “You can see it in his energy, his interactions, the balance between competition and joy. That’s what makes him special.”

Warriors

Golden State general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. joined SiriusXM NBA Radio to discuss the team’s offseason approach — particularly why the Warriors went after veteran big man Al Horford.

Dunleavy said the front office is walking a fine line between competing now and staying flexible later.

“You’re balancing everything,” he said. “Future assets, the cap, staying good now and having a chance to be good in the future. That’s the challenge and the fun of this job.”

Suns

Phoenix entered the preseason with only 13 guaranteed contracts and a tough choice looming between Jordan Goodwin and Jared Butler. Now, both may have forced their way onto the roster.

In the Suns’ preseason finale — a 113–104 win over the Lakers — Goodwin posted 24 points and six assists, finishing with a team-best +14.

Butler was even better, scoring 35 points with nine assists and seven boards while hitting five threes.

Still, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic notes that Butler’s spot isn’t locked in.

“I’m just believing in myself,” Butler said after the game. “I’m hoping people catch up with the faith that I have in myself.”

If Phoenix can’t keep him, someone else probably will.
