West Notes: Lakers, Dennis Schroder, Warriors, Timberwolves

Lakers

Point guard Dennis Schroder will join the team this weekend after resolving his visa issues in Germany, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN. Schroder, 29, re-signed with the Lakers in free agency.

“He’s doing the best he can to stay in rhythm and to stay in shape,” Lakers coach Darvin Ham said last week, via McMenamin. “But it’s nothing like NBA basketball and being in an NBA setting. So, once he gets here, we’ll be able to throw him right into the deep end of the pool and see how he responds.

“But Dennis is a high, high level player, super-duper competitor and takes great care of himself. So, it should be a quick turnaround for him getting into a rhythm.”

Timberwolves

Shooting guard Anthony Edwards said he has already developed chemistry with center Rudy Gobert, adding to the cohesion he’s shared with center Karl-Anthony Towns.

“We just been working on my lob throws. I’ve never threw lobs before, so I’ve been working on ’em,” Edwards said, via Dane Moore. “It’s very effective. Him rollin, KAT poppin, teams don’t know how to guard us because he creates a great highway to the rim.”
