West Notes: Suns, Kevin Durant, Rockets, Warriors, Steph Curry

Suns

New team owner Mat Ishbia said the Suns’ trade for star forward Kevin Durant marked a “transformative day” for the franchise.

“Not only is Kevin one of the greatest and most accomplished players in the history of the sport, but his character also embodies the world-class commitment to excellence we are instilling across every facet of this organization,” Ishbia said in a statement. “(Small forward T.J. Warren) is a natural leader whose work ethic and commitment to getting better every day make him an important addition to the team as he returns to the Valley.

“Phoenix will be one of the best organizations in all of sports and we are so excited to start our journey with this incredibly dynamic team.”

Rockets

Warriors

  • Star guard Steph Curry will have his left leg injury re-evaluated after the All-Star Break, the team announced in a press release. Curry suffered the injury against the Mavericks on Feb. 4.
  • In case you missed it, the Warriors re-acquired guard Gary Payton II in the multi-team trade that sent center James Wiseman to the Pistons. So essentially, the Warriors traded the former No. 2 overall pick for a reliable backcourt player to help in the playoffs.
