West Rumors: Clippers, John Wall, Jazz, Mavs, Lakers

Clippers

  • Given point guard John Wall‘s struggles from shooting beyond the arc, the Clippers may eventually look for an upgrade at the backup point guard spot, via Yossi Gozlan of HoopsHype.
  • Wall signed a one-year, $6.5 million deal this past offseason, which makes his deal fairly moveable. He will be eligible to be traded on Dec. 15.
  • While the Clippers have been linked to Pacers center Myles Turner, some are wondering whether he’ll still be available, added HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto. Indiana has played well as of late. Turner has also been linked to the Lakers and Warriors, among others.

Jazz

  • As we relayed right here, the Jazz very well could look to move guard Collin Sexton ahead of the deadline. Maybe not, too. But his name has been in rumors flamed by several reliable outlets.
  • After averaging 24.3 points for a then-bad Cavs team in 2020-21, Sexton has the look of the type of player we regularly once predicted — a scorer-for-hire who can offer a spark off the bench, a la Lou Williams.

Mavericks

  • Center JaVale McGee went from starter to out of the rotation, and that could make him available, per Gozlan and Scotto.
  • Easier said than done, though, added Gozlan. “(McGee has) had a nice second-half resurgence in his career, but a big part of his value has been the short-term deals he’s been on,” Gozlan said. “It’ll be tough for Dallas to move him in Year 15 of his career with all that money left over.”
