West Rumors: Grizzlies, Marcus Smart, Lakers, Gabe Vincent, Suns

Grizzlies

  • Guard Marcus Smart has drawn trade interest from the Bucks and Lakers, though the Grizzlies are rebuffing any offers, per Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports. They acquired Smart from the Celtics before the season and view him as part of their future.
  • Memphis did announce the trade that sent center Steven Adams to the Rockets. We have the reasons behind the deal right here.

Lakers

The Lakers have included guard Gabe Vincent in trade talks, per Fischer.

We’ve heard plenty of D’Angelo Russell‘s involvement in the Los Angeles Lakers’ trade conversations to fortify the unit around LeBron JamesAnthony Davis and front-office favorite Austin Reaves,” Fischer wrote. “Let it be known that Los Angeles has also been including injured point guard Gabe Vincent, who’s played just five games due to a knee injury, in various trade talks, sources said.”

  • One player the Lakers won’t be trading is James, according to agent Rich Paul. We have that full post here.
  • Los Angeles shouldn’t have high expectations at the trade deadline, as no real difference-makers are expected to be available, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. (Full post.)

Suns

The Suns have been linked to Hornets small forward Miles Bridges, and that’s not by accident. They reportedly are indeed considerably interested.

“As for Charlotte wing Miles Bridges, the Phoenix Suns continue to be described by league personnel as the team most motivated to land the Michigan State product,” Fischer wrote. “And it should be noted that Bridges hails from the same Spartans program that Phoenix owner Mat Ishbia was a part of under legendary head coach Tom Izzo. Bridges would add a sturdy forward that Phoenix’s roster currently lacks and could allow the Suns to deploy more effective small-ball lineups with Kevin Durant at the five.”
