The Washington Wizards are expected to sign guard/forward Taylor Funk to a two-way contract, per Christos Tsaltas of Sportal.
Funk recently finished with 29 points, four rebounds and five assists in a win over the Milwaukee Bucks at the Las Vegas Summer League, burying eight 3-pointers along the way.
Funk spent four seasons at St. Joe’s before transferring to Utah State. He went undrafted in 2023.
The Wizards already have two players under two-way contracts, so signing Funk to such a deal would put them at the NBA limit.
Funk was listed as one of the standout players at summer league by NBA.com.
“Funk capped an impressive Summer League with his best game yet,” the outlet wrote of his performance vs. the Bucks. “The sharpshooter scored 29 points on 8-for-18 shooting — including 8-for-16 from deep — with five assists and four rebounds in the Wizards’ 91-79 win over the Bucks. Funk, a 6-foot-8 forward who spent last season in the G League, has made a strong case for Washington’s final two-way roster spot.”
The Wizards have added several veterans to the roster this offseason as they aim for their first 50-win season since 1979. That list includes center Jonas Valanciunas (formerly of the New Orleans Pelicans), guard Malcolm Brogdon (Portland Trail Blazers) and forward Saddiq Bey (Atlanta Hawks).
They also hired former interim coach Brian Keefe to the job on a full-time basis.
