The Wizards landed point guard Chris Paul as part of the trade with the Suns centered on shooting guard Bradley Beal, though Paul may not be in Washington for long. Or at all.
Per Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report/TNT, Paul very well could be headed to a third team as part of the trade. And the Clippers, for one, are expected to pursue a reunion, Haynes noted.
Along with Paul, the Wizards reportedly will receive guard Landry Shamet, multiple second-round picks and possible first-round pick swaps as part of the trade. Exact details, however, remain sketchy.
Also, the Suns are believed to be receiving guard Jordan Goodwin from the Wizards along with Beal.
But for Paul, 38, a lot remains up in the air. He wants to play for a contender at this very late stage of his career — and by all accounts, the Wizards appear willing to make that happen.
For the record, Paul is in the final year of a contract that is set to pay him $30.8 million unless he is waived before June 28. If he is, he’s still due half that amount.
