ESPN/ABC analyst Jeff Van Gundy and top NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski will both be out for the start of the Finals after testing positive for COVD-19, per Andrew Marchand of the New York Post.
As of Thursday morning, the status of play-by-play man Mike Breen remained in doubt, Marchand added and ESPN confirmed. Breen missed the network’s previous game following a positive COVID test.
Van Gundy and Breen join Mark Jackson on ABC and ESPN’s top broadcast team for NBA games. Marchand mentioned Doris Burke as a possible Van Gundy replacement for Game 1.
Meanwhile, Wojnarowski offers insight from the studio before games. He could potentially work remotely, Marchand noted, and perhaps join the crew for Game 3 in Boston.
