The Golden State Warriors don’t want to include Buddy Hield or Moses Moody in a Jonathan Kuminga sign-and-trade deal, according to NBA insider Sam Amick of The Athletic.
All signs point toward Kuminga starting next season on the Warriors since there is no team with cap space to sign the forward to an offer sheet.
A quick (and belated) follow-up on the Jonathan Kuminga reporting from Friday: Anyone saying the first-round pick protections are the only obstacle to a Kings-Warriors sign-and-trade is wrong, as I’m told Golden State really doesn’t want to move either Buddy Hield or Moses Moody…

The Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings are interested in acquiring Kuminga in a sign-and-trade deal, but the Warriors don’t like their offers.
Kuminga, who doesn’t have a good relationship with Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists for Golden State last season in 47 games. The 22-year-old wing shot 45.4% from the field, 30.5% from beyond the arc and 66.8% from the free-throw line.
Kuminga was the seventh overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He enters next season with career averages of 12.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists with Golden State.
The Warriors lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the 2025 playoffs in five games after beating the Houston Rockets in the first round in seven games.
It looks like Kuminga will play next season with the Warriors on a one-year qualifying offer and then hit unrestricted free agency next offseason. As an unrestricted free agent, Kuminga can leave Golden State and pick his next team.
According to NBA insiders Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of ESPN, Jonathan Kuminga believes the Warriors have stunted and strung his career along for four seasons.
