The Grizzlies are acquiring the No. 19 overall pick from the Timberwolves, who selected Wake Forest forward Jake LaRavia, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
In exchange, the Timberwolves will receive picks Nos. 22 and 29, Wojnarowski added.
LaRavia, 20, is 6-foot-8 and spent one season at Wake Forest, averaging 14.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 33 games.
He is said to be capable of playing both forward spots and has drawn NBA comparisons to Matt Harpring and Linus Kleiza. He spent the first two seasons of his college career at Indiana State.
NBA Draft Room wrote that LaRavia “isn’t a plus athlete in terms of speed and vertical but has a lot of strength and power. Has good length and broad shoulders, which helps him hold his own in the lane.”
