De’Andre Hunter is on his way to the Kings. Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis are on their way to the Cavaliers.
The Cavs just happen to be paying their lone visit of the season to Sacramento on Saturday. That means Hunter could face the Cavs. And Schroder and Ellis could face the Kings. And soon.
Hard to say for sure, though. The Kings have three more games before facing Cleveland — at Washington (Sunday), then at home against Memphis (Wednesday) and the LA Clippers (Friday).
The Cavs have two more before heading to Sacramento — at Portland (Sunday) and at the Clippers (Wednesday).
Logistically, it will be near impossible for any of the players involved in the deal to play before Wednesday.
Though it should be easier for Schroder and Ellis to join the Cavs, given that both players and the Cavs are currently on the West Coast.
This is all just theorizing, of course. It’s much too soon to say who will be available and when, given that the trade hasn’t even officially gone down yet (as of Sunday morning at 3:30 a.m.). After it’s announced, everyone involved will be subject to a physical.
So unlike NBA2K, where you merely press a button, these things take time in real life. But if everything goes according to plan, those involved should be squaring off less than a week after the deal is official.
The Bulls were also involved in the trade, receiving big man Dario Saric and two second-round picks as part of the deal. Two-way power forward Emanuel Miller is also reportedly being sent to the Cavs.
