Cavaliers starting center Jarrett Allen will remain sidelined a little while longer.
Allen continues to deal with tendonitis in his right knee and will miss the upcoming road trip, the team announced. The three-game swing begins Tuesday in Milwaukee.
The injury occurred during the second half of the Cavs’ March 3 victory over the Pistons. Allen has already missed the past five games and will continue treatment and rehabilitation while the team is on the road.
His absence has been noticeable.
Allen is averaging 15.3 points and 8.5 rebounds in 27.5 minutes this season and has remained a major piece of Cleveland’s success. The Cavs are 33-18 when he plays but just 8-9 without him.
Two reserve guards will also remain out.
Craig Porter Jr. suffered a left groin strain Friday in Dallas. An MRI confirmed the injury, and the Cavs expect him to miss one to three weeks.
Meanwhile, rookie guard Tyrese Proctor will also miss the trip with a right quad strain. Proctor, the No. 49 pick in last year’s draft, has already been sidelined for five games. Sam Merrill, who missed the past two games, is not on the injury report.
The Cavs entered the week at 41-27 and holding the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference.
