LeBron James hasn’t announced anything about his future yet. That hasn’t stopped teams from making calls.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, multiple contenders have already reached out to James and his camp ahead of NBA free agency.
“I do know a lot of teams are calling LeBron James and his camp,” Charania said during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
That should probably surprise no one.
Even at 41, James remains one of the league’s most impactful players and biggest attractions. He averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists this season while helping the Lakers go 39-21 in games he played.
Now comes the big question: Where does he play next?
Most league observers still believe the Lakers remain the favorite if James continues his career. A return to Cleveland has also generated buzz, while the Knicks and Warriors continue to get mentioned in league circles.
James becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer for the first time in seven years after spending the past eight seasons in Los Angeles.
Following the Lakers’ second-round sweep at the hands of Oklahoma City, James admitted he still hasn’t decided what comes next.
“With my future, I don’t know, honestly,” he said. “I don’t know what the future holds for me.”
The rest of the NBA is clearly paying close attention while he figures it out.
