The Thunder’s season ended one win short of the NBA Finals.
That doesn’t mean Shai Gilgeous-Alexander plans to spend the summer helping run the front office.
Asked after Oklahoma City’s Game 7 loss to the Spurs whether he expects to have input on offseason decisions, including team options involving Lu Dort and Isaiah Hartenstein, the reigning MVP offered a memorable response.
“I will give zero input,” Gilgeous-Alexander said, via Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype. “I will let Sam Presti, the greatest GM ever, do his job.”

It’s a notable stance in an era when many franchise stars are heavily involved in personnel discussions.
Gilgeous-Alexander made it clear he trusts Presti and the organization that helped build Oklahoma City into a championship contender.
The Thunder entered the postseason as defending NBA champions and appeared poised for another deep run before being eliminated by San Antonio, 111-103, in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals.
Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 35 points and nine assists in the loss, but Oklahoma City’s title defense came to an end as Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs advanced to the NBA Finals.
Despite the disappointment, the Thunder remain one of the league’s most talented teams and still possess a massive collection of draft assets heading into the offseason.
As for Gilgeous-Alexander, it sounds like he’ll leave those decisions to Presti.
And judging by his comments, he wouldn’t have it any other way.
