The Hawks have waived four players from their training camp roster, including guard Armoni Brooks and power forward Chris Silva, the team announced in a press release.
Along with those two, shooting guard Malik Ellison and point guard Tyson Etienne were also let go.
Brooks, 24, is 6-foot-3 and was waived by the Raptors in late July. He signed a pair of 10-day deals with the Raptors after the February trade deadline, then eventually landed a two-year deal. He played fairly well with the Rockets for 41 games before that, averaging 6.2 points.
Silva, 25, is 6-8 and appeared in one game with the Timberwolves last season, as well as another nine with the Heat. He has also spent time with the Kings since entering the NBA in 2019.
Most recently, he spent time with the Iowa Wolves of the G League, but was traded to the College Park SkyHawks in exchange for shooting guard Nik Stauskas, as we relayed here.
Silva appeared in 17 games with the Iowa Wolves last season, averaging 17.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists. He carries NBA career averages of 2.8 points and 2.7 boards in 69 career games overall.
He signed a 10-day contract with the Heat at the end of January, for his last run in the NBA.
Ellison, 26, is 6-6 and the son of former No. 1 overall pick Pervis Ellison. Malik Ellison signed a 10-day contract with the Hawks last season, though he did not log any minutes.
Instead, he spent the majority of his time with the College Park SkyHawks. With the SkyHawks, he appeared in 26 games and averaged 6.8 points and 4.7 rebounds.
After the season, he played for the 76ers’ summer league squad, averaging 7.0 points and 3.8 boards in four appearances.
Etienne, 22, is 6-2 and went undrafted after three college seasons at Wichita State, averaging 14.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in 27 games in 2021-22. He also shot 41 percent on 3-pointers.
He then signed on with the Hawks’ summer league squad, averaging 10.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in five appearances in Las Vegas. His father, Max, played college basketball at Maryland.
