Bronny James, the son of Lakers star LeBron James, is signing a Name, Image and Likeness deal with Nike for the start of his college career, per Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic.
Bronny is playing in his final season at Sierra Canyon (Calif.) High School, and ranked by most national recruiting services as anywhere from the No. 40-47 overall prospect in the class of 2023.
He is expected to play college basketball, as opposed to joining the G League, and is being recruited by the majority of top Division programs. The list includes Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan, UCLA, USC and a host of others.
Scouts have told Hoops Wire that James is a projected late first- or early second-round pick at the moment. But that could undoubtedly change for better or worse between now and when he’s eligible for the NBA Draft (2024).
LeBron has said he hopes to finish his career with whichever NBA team drafts Bronny. Nike, of course, also has had LeBron under contract since 2003.
