76ers
New 76ers president of basketball operations Mike Gansey isn’t pretending Philadelphia is ready to contend for a title just yet.
Speaking at his introductory press conference, Gansey acknowledged the obvious challenge facing the franchise.
“We’re not a championship caliber team right now,” he said, via the Associated Press.
Gansey, who left the Cavaliers’ front office to take over basketball operations in Philadelphia, declined to reveal many specifics about his offseason plans. He also sidestepped questions about former MVP Joel Embiid, who remains under contract for three more seasons.
“With him and the roster we have, that’s who we have,” Gansey said. “We’ve got to get those guys on the floor. We’ve got to create an identity.”
One encouraging development, according to Sixers executive Bob Myers, is that neither Embiid nor Paul George is expected to enter the offseason recovering from a major procedure.
Meanwhile, Gansey praised Myers’ presence within the organization, calling it a “cheat code,” and said retaining Jameer Nelson as executive vice president of basketball operations was important as he assembled his front office.
Raptors
If the Raptors make a significant trade this offseason, don’t expect rookie forward Collin Murray-Boyles to be included.
According to Doug Smith of the Toronto Star, the former No. 9 overall pick is viewed as virtually untouchable by the organization after an impressive rookie campaign.
Smith jokingly advised fans to ignore any rumor suggesting otherwise.
“Stop reading, delete that source from every aspect of your reading/social media network, and take a cleansing shower,” he wrote.
Pacers
Obi Toppin finished the season on a positive note after overcoming a serious foot injury.
As detailed by Tony East of Circle City Spin, Toppin was productive over the final months of the season and provided encouragement for a Pacers team hoping to return to contention in 2026-27.
Indiana remains optimistic that a healthy Toppin can continue building on that late-season momentum.
