Giannis reportedly focused on Heat, but Bucks still not sold on deal

Giannis Antetokounmpo may know where he wants to go. The Bucks apparently aren’t convinced.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Antetokounmpo remains focused on joining the Heat should Milwaukee ultimately decide to trade him. The problem, it appears, is that the Bucks don’t appear to love Miami’s offer.

Speaking on ESPN’s Get Up, Windhorst said discussions surrounding Antetokounmpo have intensified over the past week or so, though no resolution has been reached.

“He has focused on wanting to be a member of the Miami Heat,” Windhorst said. “But the Heat and the Bucks have been talking for months and not agreed to a deal, because the Bucks don’t love the Heat’s offer.”

According to a recent report from The Athletic, Miami’s package could include Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., additional young talent and multiple first-round picks.

Apparently, that hasn’t been enough. Windhorst added that multiple teams remain involved in various discussions, with Boston continuing to loom as a potential threat.

The Celtics have frequently been linked to Antetokounmpo, though any realistic deal would almost certainly involve Jaylen Brown. Windhorst suggested that moving Brown and reshaping the roster could complicate matters for Boston.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves, Magic and Trail Blazers continue to be mentioned as possible suitors.

One thing does seem clear. The Giannis situation appears to be reaching a critical stage.

And with the NBA Draft rapidly approaching, the pressure to reach a decision is only increasing.
