Lakers, Knicks, Mavericks, Suns officially complete four-team draft trade

The Lakers, Knicks, Mavericks and Suns have officially finalized the complicated draft-night trade that shuffled several first-round picks and ultimately sent three prospects to new homes.

Under the finalized agreement, the Lakers acquired the draft rights to Cameron Carr, who was selected with the No. 24 overall pick.

The Mavericks landed Spanish guard Sergio de Larrea at No. 25, while the Suns came away with Arizona forward Koa Peat at No. 30.

The biggest haul, however, may have gone to the Knicks.

New York moved out of the first round and received the No. 47 overall pick, four future second-round selections, cash considerations and the draft rights to several international players.

In essence, the Lakers moved up one spot to secure Carr, the Mavericks jumped from No. 30 to No. 25 to land de Larrea, and the Suns climbed from No. 47 into the first round to grab Peat.

The Knicks served as the facilitator, sliding out of the first round while stockpiling future assets.

Of the three players involved, Peat may arrive with the most immediate expectations after starring at Arizona and emerging as one of the more intriguing forwards in this draft class.

Meanwhile, there remains some uncertainty surrounding de Larrea’s timeline. According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, there was an expectation entering the draft that the Spanish guard could remain overseas for at least another season before making the jump to the NBA.

Either way, all four teams can officially move forward with the results of one of the more unusual draft-night transactions in recent memory.
