The Jaylen Brown era in Boston has officially come to an end.
The Celtics and 76ers finalized their blockbuster trade Monday after the NBA’s offseason moratorium expired, allowing both teams to formally announce the deal that sends Brown to Philadelphia in exchange for veteran forward Paul George and four draft picks.

With the move now official, both organizations released statements praising one of the league’s premier two-way players.
“Jaylen has proven himself as one of the league’s top players year after year,” Sixers president of basketball operations Mike Gansey said. “He is a dynamic play-maker with a versatile skill set that positively impacts the game on both ends of the floor. His wealth of experience, high basketball IQ, poise and leadership will benefit this franchise for years to come.”
Perhaps the most noteworthy comments came from Celtics president Brad Stevens, who reflected on Brown’s decade in Boston.
“Jaylen will rightfully go down as one of the defining players of this era,” Stevens said. “Like the best Celtics before him, he is a terrific player and has also had a huge impact off the court.”
Stevens added that Brown’s “legacy as a Celtic is forever etched in stone.”
Brown spent 10 seasons with Boston after being selected third overall in the 2016 NBA Draft. He helped lead the Celtics to the 2024 NBA championship, earned five All-Star selections, made two All-NBA teams and developed into one of the league’s premier two-way wings.
Philadelphia is betting Brown can help form another title contender alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe.
Boston, meanwhile, begins a new chapter built around Jayson Tatum, George and an impressive collection of future draft assets.
Whether the deal ultimately works for either side won’t be known for years.
But one thing became official Monday: One of the most successful player-team partnerships in recent Celtics history is over.
