Grizzlies
Quinten Post is officially headed to the Grizzlies.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater, the Warriors have declined to match Memphis’ three-year, $30 million offer sheet, making Post the newest addition to the Grizzlies’ frontcourt.
Golden State had a little more than 36 hours to decide whether to keep the restricted free agent but ultimately passed, reportedly due in part to the financial implications of the contract as the Warriors continue navigating the NBA’s apron restrictions.
Post emerged as a valuable rotation player last season, averaging 7.7 points and 4.0 rebounds while appearing in 67 games for Golden State.
ESPN noted that Post’s deal is the first offer sheet worth at least $5 million annually to go unmatched since Bogdan Bogdanovic left Sacramento for Atlanta in 2020.
Pistons
Could Trey Murphy III become Detroit’s next big target?
Omari Sankofa of the Detroit Free Press believes the Pelicans forward would be an ideal fit alongside Cade Cunningham thanks to his efficient scoring, floor spacing and ability to thrive without dominating the ball.
The challenge, of course, is the asking price.
Reports indicate New Orleans is seeking three first-round picks in any deal for Murphy, raising questions about whether Detroit has enough assets (or enough willingness) to make that kind of move.
Murphy averaged 21.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists last season.
Pelicans
Hunter Dickinson will remain with the Pelicans.
According to the NBA’s official transaction log, New Orleans has re-signed the former Michigan and Kansas standout to another two-way contract after tendering him a qualifying offer earlier this offseason.
Dickinson spent most of last season with the Birmingham Squadron, averaging 17.6 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists in the G League.
He appeared in five NBA games as a rookie and will continue competing for a larger role heading into next season.
