Clippers coach Tyronn Lue may bring star forward Kawhi Leonard along slowly, bringing Leonard of the bench to start the season, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
Leonard missed all of last season while recovering from knee surgery. He suffered a torn ACL in the 2021 playoffs vs. the Jazz.
The purpose of bringing Leonard off the bench would be to help manage his minutes as gets re-acclimated to game action, Haynes reported.
Leonard and the Clippers open the season Thursday night with a “road” game against the Los Angeles rival Lakers.
Haynes reported earlier in the week that the Clippers also planned to bring point guard John Wall off the bench, starting Reggie Jackson instead. When asked about the report, Lue said he hadn’t made a final decision yet.
