Free agent shooting guard RJ Nembhard has been acquired by the Motor City Cruise of the G League, the team announced in a press release.
Nembhard, 23, is 6-5 and went undrafted out of Texas Christian in 2021, gaining his first NBA experience as a member of the Heat’s summer team. He signed a two-way deal with Cleveland in October 2021, appearing in 14 games.
He did his best work for the Cleveland Charge, averaging 21.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 25 games.
Nembhard began this season with the Cavs, as they extended him a qualifying offer at the end of June. Cleveland waived him on Oct. 15, four days before the start of the regular season.
Keifer Sykes, Kyler Edwards, Braxton Key and Buddy Boeheim are some other notable names on the Cruise roster. The Cruise are coached by DJ Bakker.
