The Mavericks kept their final preseason roster spot busy Tuesday, cycling through several players before finishing with big man Jorge Diaz Graham.
Dallas confirmed Monday’s signing of Matt Cross, then waived him to sign Darin Green Jr. Green was waived for Chris Mantis, who was then waived for Diaz Graham. Got all that? There won’t be a quiz.
Diaz Graham, a 6-foot-10 forward/center, played for Dallas at Summer League after finishing his college career at Oregon State. He averaged 7.2 points and 5.4 rebounds in five games in Las Vegas.
The Texas Legends, Dallas’ G League affiliate, also selected him first overall in this year’s G League international draft. The Mavs assigned him No. 23, suggesting he could stick around at least a little longer than Tuesday’s other additions.
Green, Mantis and Diaz Graham likely signed Exhibit 10 deals, which would allow them to earn bonuses of up to $91,000 if waived and then with the Legends for at least 60 days. Texas already holds Green’s and Mantis’ returning rights.
More minor moves from Tuesday:
- Clippers: Los Angeles re-signed former Purdue guard Fletcher Loyer to an Exhibit 10 contract after waiving Yuki Kawamura on Monday. Loyer was with the Clippers during the first week of camp before being waived last Tuesday. With an open two-way spot, the undrafted rookie could get another chance to make his case.
- Jazz: Utah waived rookie big man Mohamed Wague, who signed an Exhibit 10 deal last week. He can earn a $5,000 bonus by spending at least 60 days with the Salt Lake City Stars. The move leaves Utah with one opening on its 21-man preseason roster.
