Eighty-Eight Percent of NBA Players Now Eligible to be Traded

The vast majority of NBA players are now eligible to be traded, given that Dec. 15 increased the number by 74, as relayed by Bobby Marks of ESPN and Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors.

That’s the date that players who signed as free agents this offseason can be dealt, per NBA rules.

Among some of the names you certainly know on the list:

Robin Lopez, Raul Neto and Ricky Rubio of the Cavaliers, Collin Sexton of the Jazz, James Harden and P.J. Tucker of the 76ers, Lonnie Walker IV of the Lakers and John Wall of the Clippers.

Granted, most of the 74 on the list are not undoubtedly not going anywhere — such as Jalen Brunson of the Knicks — but there is always a possibility that some of the 74 could be added as throw-ins as we near the February trade deadline.

Also, as Adams noted, 12 players can’t be traded without their consent, and 13 are on non-guaranteed contracts.

But no matter how you spin it, NBA trade season is very much under way, and will be here for about another two months.
