The Hornets have officially waived guard Reggie Jackson, the team announced in a press release.
The move free Jackson to sign with the Nuggets, his reported next destination. He was acquired by Charlotte at the trade deadline in exchange for center Mason Plumlee.
Jackson, 32, is averaging 10.9 points and 3.5 assists in 52 games this season, all with the Clippers. He spent the first four seasons of his career with the Thunder after being drafted with the No. 24 overall pick in 2011 — then played six for the Pistons and was in his fourth with the Clippers.
The Western Conference-leading Nuggets have been looking to add backcourt depth after trading Bones Hyland to the Clippers. Jackson fits that type of role. Basically, the Nuggets ended up acquiring Jackson for Hyland, though not in a direct trade.
