Lakers guard Kendrick Nunn has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his right knee and is likely to miss multiple weeks, coach Frank Vogel told reporters.
Nunn becomes the latest in a line of early-season injuries for the Lakers, who are also without small forward Trevor Ariza (ankle), shooting guard Wayne Ellington (hamstring) and guard/forward Talen Horton-Tucker (thumb).
Nunn, 26, is in his first season in LA after agreeing to a two-year deal reportedly worth $10 million during the offseason.
He is expected to add depth and energy to backcourt that includes older veterans Russell Westbrook, Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley and Kent Bazemore, as well as Malik Monk.
“Nunn dealt with an ankle sprain in the same leg during training camp, though the club was hopeful he’d be back by opening night,” wrote Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors.
“He had an MRI on the knee after experiencing some soreness and it revealed the bruise. He’ll be re-evaluated in about two or three weeks, according to Vogel.”
Nunn is 6-foot-2 and averaged 14.6 points and 3.2 assists last season with the Heat, following a breakout year in 2019-20.
