Heat
Not surprisingly, the Heat have long had eyes for Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell, per Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today.
“If the Cavaliers decide to trade All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell, it will be a major move for the Cavs and the team acquiring him — perhaps Brooklyn, New York or Miami (the Heat have been looking for a combo guard and have long had their eyes on Mitchell),” Zillgitt wrote. “The Cavaliers traded for Mitchell with the hopes he would re-sign with them. But he has not signed an extension. He is under contract for 2024-25 at $34.8 million and has a player option 2025-26, allowing him to become a free agent in the summer of 2025 if he chooses.”
- That said, the Cavs are not looking to trade Mitchell, as we’ve written multiple times, most recently here. One executive told Hoops Wire that he believes Mitchell will eventually sign an extension in Cleveland, we wrote here.
- But some view the Heat as the one team that has the assets to potentially land Mitchell (or another star), should it come to that.
Nets
The Nets are not interested in trading forward Mikal Bridges, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN (via Threads). Just the opposite.
“I believe Brooklyn’s intent remains to build and add talent around Mikal Bridges,” Woj wrote in his weekly chat.
Pacers
The Pacers continue to be linked to Raptors forward Pascal Siakam, per Wojnarowski.
“I believe the Pacers will continue to be a team that probes on Toronto’s Pascal Siakam,” he wrote on Threads.
- As we relayed here, the Grizzlies and Pistons are among the others who may pursue a trade for Siakam.
Lakers
The Lakers continue to be linked to Bulls guard Zach LaVine, who’s represented by Rich Paul and Klutch Sports. Paul also represents LeBron James and Anthony Davis, as you likely know.
“Teams looking for offense, and that includes the Los Angeles Lakers, are interested in Zach LaVine and his availability,” Zillgitt wrote. “LaVine averages 21 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists and shoots 44.3% from the field, 33.6% on 3-pointers and 86.6% on free throws. A talented scorer, he has played in just 18 games this season — out since Nov. 28 with right foot inflammation. LaVine is in the second year of a five-year $215.1 million contract.”
- The Lakers also have trade interest in Hornets guard Terry Rozier, sources told Hoops Wire.
