Hawks small forward Solomon Hill has likely been lost for the season to a torn hamstring, the team announced in a release.
Hill, 30, is 6-foot-6 and has appeared in just 13 games this season, playing a small role. But he has always offered veteran leadership and is an experienced player who has provided help in a pinch.
He suffered the injury Sunday and underwent an MRI on Monday, when it was learned he would need surgery.
The Hawks (13-12) reached the Eastern Conference finals and have been battling back into the playoff picture after an uneven start. Odds are they will find a way to replace Hill, either through a G League of low-level free agency signing.
