Cavaliers guard/forward Isaac Okoro has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocol, the team announced, via Kelsey Russo of The Athletic.
No other Cavs players had entered the protocol as of Thursday evening. Okoro will either need to wait 10 days to play again, or return two negative tests in a 24-hour span.
It’s a bit of a hiccup for Okoro, who may have had his best stretch of basketball as a pro, averaging 19.0 points over the last four games. Overall, the Cavs (18-12) have won five in a row. (Related dribbles.)
More from the East
- Bucks forward Bobby Portis is among the players to enter the protocols, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. Portis joins teammates Giannis Antetokounmpo, Donte DiVincenzo and Wesley Matthews. Meanwhile, “Brook Lopez and Semi Ojeleye are injured and Thanasis Antetokounmpo is listed as doubtful due to a right soleus strainm” wrote Dana Gauruder of Hoops Rumors. “That will leave Milwaukee with 10 players if there are no more developments.”
- The Celtics have listed forward Jabari Parker as out due to entering the health and safety protocols. Parker, a former lottery pick, has appeared in just nine games this season.
- In case you missed it, the Bulls are reportedly on the lookout for a defense-minded wing to come off the bench. You can check out the full post here. Chicago, of course, is having its own set of protocol issues, with eight players still sitting out. Meanwhile, coach Billy Donovan told reporters that Coby White and Javonte Green have cleared protocols and are currently working out individually.
