The Bulls have signed forward Alfonzo McKinnie for the remainder of the season, while also waiving forward Alize Johnson, the team announced in a press release.
Since Johnson’s deal was partially guaranteed at $1.7 million, the Bulls will have a cap hit of $706,000, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
McKinnie, 29, is 6-foot-7 and has appeared in three games with the Bulls after signing a hardship exception deal, averaging 8.0 points and 2.3 rebounds. He has also spent time with the Raptors, Warriors, Cavaliers and Lakers.
As relayed by Shams Charania of The Athletic, McKinnie becomes the first player who signed a hardship deal to land a standard contract this season.
Johnson, 25, is 6-7 and appeared in 16 games for the Bulls. He spent the first two seasons of his career with the Pacers, and played 18 games for the Nets last season, averaging a career-high 5.2 points.
