The New Orleans Pelicans and swingman Javonte Green have agreed to a one-year contract, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Green, 31, is 6-foot-4 and has spent most of his career with the Chicago Bulls, appearing in nine games last season after signing some 10-day deals. He was signed to a standard contract in March, appearing in nine games and averaging 12.2 points and 7.4 rebounds, shooting 60% from the field and 37% on 3-pointers.
He also spent time with the organization off and on from 2020-23. Along with that, he spent part of last season with the Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State’s affiliate in the NBA G League.
In 2022-23, Green appeared in 32 games with Chicago, averaging 5.2 points and 2.8 rebounds, shooting 56% from the field and 32% on threes.
He signed a training camp deal with the Warriors last October, only to be waived a few days later. In 10 games with Santa Cruz, he compiled averages of 12.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals.
Green has appeared in 195 NBA games total with the Bulls and Boston Celtics. He has also spent time with the Maine Red Claws of the G League.
In 2021, Green was traded by the Celtics with Daniel Theis to the Bulls, with the Celtics receiving Luke Kornet and Moritz Wagner in a three-team trade involving the Washington Wizards.
Once his deal becomes official, the Pelicans will have 15 players under contract, with 13 guaranteed contracts. All three of their two-way spots are also filled.
New Orleans finished 49-33 last season before being eliminated by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
