Knicks Waive Moses Brown From Camp Deal

The Knicks have waived center Moses Brown after signing him to an Exhibit 10 deal for training camp, per the NBA transactions wire.

Brown, who turns 25 early next week, has yet to stick with a team for a single season, though he sure has bounced around the basketball globe since entering the NBA in 2019.

His resume includes stops with the Trail Blazers (twice), Thunder, Mavericks, Cavaliers, Clippers, and Nets.

Brown is 7-foot-2 and carries NBA career averages of 5.2 points and 5.0 rebounds in just under 12 minutes per game. Last season in Portland, he put up 3.4 points and 3.9 boards over 22 games.

In the G League, though, he was a double-double machine for Rip City Remix, posting 15.8 points and 10.5 rebounds in limited action.

Interestingly, Brown is not eligible for a two-way contract. The Knicks’ move looks like it’s part of a bigger plan, likely waiving him before the season to stash him with their G League squad, the Westchester Knicks. If he stays there for 60 days, he can pocket an Exhibit 10 bonus worth up to $77.5K on top of his G League salary.

Before adding Brown, New York had a full 21-man roster. To make room, the Knicks waived guard Boo Buie, who also recently signed an Exhibit 10 deal. Buie is likely headed to Westchester as well.

So for Brown, it’s another stop on his NBA tour — a chance to make an impact in the G League and maybe find his way back to the big show. But for now, the Knicks are playing a numbers game, and Brown’s just hoping to stay in the mix.
