The Wizards intend to sign guard/forward Jordan Schakel to a two-way contract, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Schakel, 23, is 6-foot-6 and has been playing for the Capital City Go-Go, the Wizards’ G League affiliate. He was signed to a hardship contract by the Wizards in January and appeared in two games.
The signing will mean the Wizards must release one of their other two-way players — choosing between guards Cassius Stanley or Joel Ayayi.
In 21 games with Capital City, Schakel is averaging 14.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
The Wizards (29-34) are just 1.5 games behind the Hawks and two games behind the Hornets in the play-in picture.
