The Trail Blazers intend to keep center Robert Williams, though they could look to trade guard Malcolm Brogdon, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Williams and Brogdon are both being acquired in a trade that will send guard Jrue Holiday to the Celtics (via the three-team Damian Lillard deal with the Bucks). Along with Williams and Brogdon, Portland is receiving a 2024 and 2029 first-round pick from Boston, Wojnarowski relayed.
Opposing teams are expected to call on Brogdon, considering the Blazers are expected to go with a youth movement in the backcourt focused on Anfernee Simons, Shaedon Sharpe and No. 3 overall draft pick Scoot Henderson.
In the frontcourt will be the likes of Williams, fellow center Deandre Ayton, forward Jerami Grant and others.
With Ayton and Williams, you could make the case that the Blazers have the best one-two punch at center in the entire NBA. But as for Brogdon, the reigning Sixth Man of the Year, it appears he might indeed be in a new place before the season begins.
That's the current tally on Lillard trade, anyway: Portland plans to keep Robert Williams to pair with Deandre Ayton, sources say, but there has certainly been interest in veteran Malcolm Brogdon and expect teams will be calling on him. Blazers are committed to young guards. https://t.co/7vYhYNmbmZ
