Blazers Matching Mavs’ Offer for Matisse Thybulle

The Trail Blazers will indeed match the offer from the Mavericks being made to restricted free agent guard Matisse Thybulle, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.Matisse Thybulle

In other words, Portland will retain Thybulle and the Mavs will miss out.

This was expected to be the case, as first reported by Sean Highkin of The Rose Garden Report and as Hoops Wire relayed here.

Thybulle, 26, was acquired by the Blazers from the 76ers in February as part of a four-team trade that also involved the Knicks and Hornets. He appeared in 22 games for the Blazers and averaged a career-high 7.4 points.

With the Blazers focused on trading star guard Damian Lillard, getting the Thybulle situation resolved quickly was clearly a no-brainer.

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Mavs’ offer for Thybulle was for three years and about $33 million. Now, it’s the Blazers who will pay him that amount, barring a trade, of course.
