Blazers Star Damian Lillard Out At Least Three More Games

Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard will miss at least three more games as he continues to recover from what the team called lower abdominal tendinopathy.Damian Lillard

Lillard is undergoing more examination and treatment will be examined again next week, the team said. The possibility also exists that Lillard could miss more than just the next three games — against the Heat, Cavaliers and Kings, respectively.

“I think what we’re gonna do is just kind of meet, put all our heads together here soon and then talk through some of those things,” Blazer coach Chauncey Billups told reporters. “I think that’s probably gonna be the route that we go if he doesn’t get some kind of relief there.

“Because I can only imagine how frustrated he is. We all know that this dude wants to play every game and play every minute of every game.”

Lillard has already missed multiple games and word is, he has been dealing with the injury in some form for several years.

As Luke Adams of Hoops Rumors noted, Lillard’s numbers are down this season, his first playing for a Blazers coach other than Terry Stotts.

“His 24.0 points per game represent his lowest scoring average since 2014/15, and his shooting percentages of 40.2% on fields goals and 32.4% on threes are career lows,” Adams wrote.
