Bucks not in love with Heat’s Giannis offer, still talking to others

The Bucks could trade Giannis Antetokounmpo. But no one, it seems, is demanding that they do.

So they don’t need to accept the Heat’s offer just because. And per Brian Windhorst of ESPN, Milwaukee remains engaged with teams other than Miami on a potential Antetokounmpo deal.

“Here’s the issue: The Bucks seem to not be in love with the Heat’s offer(s) and continue to discuss trade packages with other teams,” Windhorst wrote, citing team sources. “That said, Miami has been able to improve what it can offer since the trade deadline and can send a package headlined by the No. 13 pick in next week’s draft plus various rotation players, namely Wisconsin native Tyler Herro, and prospects.”

Along with the Heat, the Celtics have been linked to Antetokounmpo, with several others (such as the Timberwolves) reportedly viewed as sleepers.

Windhorst added that Boston is “on Antetokounmpo’s list” of preferred destinations.

All of this could reach a conclusion soon. Bucks co-owner Jimmy Haslam said he hopes to resolve the Giannis situation before the NBA Draft. That’s exactly a week from today.

Of course, none of it means Antetokounmpo will actually be traded.

“All of this is painstaking and prone to falling apart,” Windhorst wrote. “That’s unsatisfying for those anxious for action, and likely for Antetokounmpo himself, but it’s reality.”
