The Pistons are still considering several options with the No. 1 overall pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
While Oklahoma State guard/forward Cade Cunningham is widely expected to be the top pick, “Detroit isn’t fully there yet on committing to Cunningham,” Wojnarowski reported.
Other options under consideration by the Pistons: G League Ignite shooting guard Jalen Green and USC center Evan Mobley.
Either way, these are sure to be some dizzying days before the draft, with teams and agents playing the smokescreen game and putting out information to try to benefit themselves and their clients.
A recent mock draft from ESPN’s Jonathan Givony suggested Cunningham will go No. 1 to the Pistons, Green will go No. 2 to the Rockets, and Mobley No. 3 to the Cavaliers. Others have suggested G League forward Jonathan Kuminga and Gonzaga guard Jalen Suggs could potentially crack the top three.
Kuminga, for instance, has made the rounds on the draft workout circuit and sources told Hoops Wire he shined in front of the Cavs.
Meanwhile, Cunningham has already met with the Pistons, while Mobley and Suggs have refused individual meetings with the Rockets. Green is only meeting with the Pistons and Rockets.
