The Cavaliers have officially signed forward Larry Nance Jr., the team announced in a press release.
Nance, 32, ia native of Akron and returns for his second stint with the franchise after some stops with the Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans and Atlanta Hawks. His new deal is believed to be for one year and the veteran’s minimum.
“I’m just happy to be able to give all I have to help my hometown team challenge for a title,” Nance said of his return, via ESPN’s Marc J. Spears.
Last year with the Hawks, Nance averaged 8.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 51.6% from the field, 44.7% from beyond the arc and 69.2% from the free-throw line. But injuries limited him to just 24 games.
Overall, Nance has spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers, Cavaliers, Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans and Hawks. A former first round pick out of Wyoming, he carries career averages of 7.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 546 NBA games.
He, of course, is the son of Cavs legend Larry Nance and brother of Pete Nance, who has also spent time with the Cavs, as well as the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers.
