Cavs’ Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen Out Again; Donovan Mitchell Questionable

AKRON, Ohio — Well, this is no way to go into a playoff rematch with the Knicks.Darius Garland

But the Cavaliers will again be without point guard Darius Garland (hamstring) and center Jarrett Allen (ankle) for at least the first of their two consecutive games against New York on Tuesday.

Allen at least practiced on Monday, coach J.B. Bickerstaff told reporters. Garland did not, though he was spotted going through an individual workout afterward.

On the semi-bright side, Donovan Mitchell also practiced, Bickerstaff said. Mitchell missed Saturday’s loss to the Pacers with what was deemed hamstring soreness. He is officially listed as questionable for Tuesday.

After Tuesday’s game vs. the Knicks, the Cavs play … you guessed it, the Knicks. That second one takes place on Wednesday at New York.

When asked Saturday if the Cavs (1-2) are ready for the Knicks (1-2), Bickerstaff said he hopes.

“We have to get healthy. I think that matters,” he said. “We’ve got a couple days here, where hopefully we can get some rest and the guys who have been out can get back. The team hasn’t had an opportunity to be whole. And I think that matters for us. Missing three of your starters and trying to find that continuity with a new group is difficult.”

Garland appeared only the opener, when he suffered the injury. Allen sustained his early in training camp and missed the entire preseason.
