Cavs’ Donovan Mitchell On Ankle Injury: I Will See You For Game 5

Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell exited Sunday’s embarrassing 129-109 Game 4 road loss to the Indiana Pacers at halftime. The reason? A left ankle injury.Donovan Mitchell, Cavaliers, Cavs, NBA, Pacers

Mitchell will undergo an MRI on Monday, but from the sounds of things, he’s not all that concerned.

“I will be good. I will see you Tuesday,” Mitchell told Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.

Fedor reported that Mitchell smiled as he said it, while leaving Indiana’s Gainbridge Fieldhouse alongside his father.

Mitchell didn’t offer any details on how the injury occurred, Fedor added

As for the MRI, Mitchell is having it “just to make sure he is good,” Fedor wrote.

Cavs coach Kenny Atkinson first noted that Mitchell will undergo an MRI on Monday. Game 5 is Tuesday in Cleveland and the Cavs are in a 3-1 series hole.

“He obviously couldn’t go in the second half. We’ll see what the MRI says,” Atkinson said.

Mitchell scored 48 points in the Cavs’ Game 2 loss, following that with 43 in their Game 3 win in Indiana. He exited Game 4 with 12 points on 3-of-11 shooting.

Cleveland was never in it, trailing by an 80-39 count at halftime. So there really was no sense in bringing back Mitchell for the second half, given the circumstances.
