CLEVELAND — Coach J.B. Bickerstaff couldn’t offer specifics, but he didn’t have something resembling positive news.
And it was related to the injuries involving Cavaliers starters Evan Mobley (ankle) and Max Strus (knee), and top reserve Dean Wade (also knee).
All have missed significant time in March, along with leading scorer Donovan Mitchell (knee and nose), and yet somehow the rest of the Cavs have managed to stay afloat.
We know Mitchell will be out at least until next week. As for the others, Bickerstaff offered an update before Wednesday’s home game against the Miami Heat.
“They’re progressing. Today was a good day as far as their on-court work,” he said.
Other than that, Bickerstaff said he “can’t give a timeline” on who might return when. But hey, it is something, as Cavs fans (and perhaps their teammates) are wondering when this team may be something closer to whole.
In the meantime, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, Caris LeVert, and a host of others are making sure the Cavs stay in the top three in the Eastern Conference.
“We’ve got a lot of guys capable of contributing and making big plays down the stretch,” LeVert said after Monday’s road win over the Indiana Pacers.
